Study of the Antibacterial action on the paper disk method in case of Antibiotic Combination

Abstract
|
|
|
By the use of paper disk method, author observed the state of antibacterial action on various organisms and strains in various combinations and concentrations by the criteria of widening antibacterial inhibitory zone appeared when two antibiotics were used in combinations.
The result were as follows,
1) Difinite regulation or Rules could not be established in antibacterial actions occuring in the combined use of antibiotics.
2) Susceptibility to combined antibiotics is variable not only in same species of bacteria but also in same strains.
3) Increase or decrease of antibacterial inhibitory zone in antibiotic combination is often observed but, the latter is not frequently observed.
4) In combinations of antibiotics the decrease of inhibitory zone seems to much more dependent upon the character of strain than the kind of combined antibiotics such decrement were mainly observed at law concentrated combinations.
5) When combination of two kind of antibiotics was not administratered simultaneously and the interval of the combinations would take over.more than 3 hours, no influence of combinations is to be expected.
